Using Social Media to Boost Clinical Trial Recruitment

Up to 50% of clinical trial sites are unsuccessful in their efforts to enroll participants. Overall, only about 20% of clinical trials meet enrollment timelines. Some companies and advocacy organizations are turning to social media initiatives in hopes of improving those statistics.

Efforts include establishing a presence on social networks such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, as well as creating sites and communities specific to clinical research. Besides raising awareness, these sites can be invaluable in building relationships with people who are willing to participate and share information with their own peer networks.
