In an effort to streamline the patent application process, a pilot program has been authorized, effective immediately, that would eliminate the need to pursue RCE if additional information becomes available after payment of the patent issue fee. Under many circumstances, a patent examiner will be able to consider an information disclosure statement for utility and reissue applications, reopening prosecution only if necessary.
