Effective April 6, 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) removed from its Web site all previous versions of the inspection guides used by the agency’s Animal Care program. APHIS replaced these versions with a consolidated Animal Care Inspection Guide to reduceconfusion and streamline information for our inspectors, regulated facilities, and stakeholders.
The consolidated Animal Care Inspection Guide is a reference aid for APHIS Animal Care personnel in inspecting USDA-licensed and -registered facilities. This guide replaced the Dealer Inspection Guide (1999), Exhibitor Inspection Guide (2004), and Research Facility Inspection Guide (2001). The consolidated guide also includes a copy of Animal Care’s Inspection Requirements Handbook.
