The Spending Reductions through Innovations in Therapies (SPRINT) Act proposed by US Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) and colleagues would boost investment in medical research in hopes of driving down health care costs in the future. The bill calls for public-private partnerships to support the discovery and development of new therapies, along with a streamlined FDA approval process to get new drugs to market more quickly. A companion bill has been introduced in the US House of Representatives.
