US Pharma Industry Working on New Treatments for Children

A new report issued by the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) identifies 316 drugs that are currently being studied in patients under 22 years of age. The total includes new drugs targeted specifically for pediatric use, as well as drugs already on the market that are being tested in support of a pediatric labeling change. About half of these drugs are intended to treat infectious diseases, cancers, or genetic disorders that affect children.
