OLAW requires Assured Institutions to complete a Semi-Annual Inspection based on criteria set forth in the 8th Edition of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals by December 31st, 2012. All programmatic changes need not be completed (as identified by the new Guide), but a plan and schedule must be in place by December 31, 2012, and the 2012 Annual Report should indicate that your Review used the new Guide.
To aid in these efforts, a new IACUC and Facilities Checklist is available for use. Acceptable answer choices to the responsibilities include Acceptable (A), Minor Deficiency (M), Significant Deficiency (S), Change in Program (C), and Not Applicable (NA). New sections are identified and links to find out more information regarding each item are included. In addition, any “musts” are identified. See the below sample screen shot.
