The next meeting of the University Industry Demonstration Partnership (UIDP) will be held in Lexington, Kentucky on October 17 – 19, 2012.
These meetings are exceptionally useful for working through the philosophy of research partnerships. Universities benefit from exploring new opportunities to expand research and technology commercialization. Industries benefit from leveraging university resources, allowing them to focus on their core business.
The demonstration partnership has several active projects, including reframing dialogue around the existence of external relationships and the nature of conflict of interest; establishing common frameworks to resolve areas of contract negotiation that traditionally require significant time; and compiling case studies for reference.
The focus of the next meeting appears to be on establishing relationships, including the skills required to develop contacts; the use of social media to reach out; and mechanisms to attract high tech businesses.
An early registration discount applies through September 16, 2012.
