The European Forum for Good Clinical Practice recently devoted an entire conference to the topic of informed consent. Attendees expressed concern that European research standards for informed consent are being undermined by the use of overly lengthy and complicated forms. According to a report in Nature, recommendations from the conference include the use of summaries, graphics, and charts to make information easier for prospective research participants to understand.
