Advance look at AUTM Survey Results for FY 2011

The number of academic responses received for FY 2011 appears effectively the same as FY 2010.

The roster of institutions with highest reported revenue also appears effectively the same.  Northwestern retains its position due in no small part to particularly sucessful drug licensing, as do many of the top dozen, although perhaps in slightly different order.

Overall, reported income was down, slightly ahead of the decrease in reported rersearch expenditures, but that alone does not provide a full picture of economic activity.  Despite current conditions, the number of reported start-up companies was slightly higher, as many institutions work with regional development agencies.

The full report will be published in a few months.  Highlights are available from AUTM.
