Addgene recognized for creating electronic Material Transfer Agreement system

Facing the challenge of processing hundreds of thousands of material transfer agreements, the non-profit organization Addgene created their own electronic system to streamline execution, and facilitate distribution of plasmids to research institutions around the world.

The electronic system has reduced median turnaround time to 36 hours.

Other institutions have explored the implementation of web agreement systems, but Addgene’s success has resulted in being named a finalist in the Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC)’s 15th Annual Leadership Awards in the category of Best Use of Technology.
